Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Noah Hanifin will miss the upcoming 2015 NHL Prospects Tournament after suffering an undisclosed injury at the USA Hockey's World Junior Evaluation Camp, the team announced on Tuesday.

The fifth overall pick of the 2015 draft, Hanifin is expected to be ready for the start of training camp on Sept. 18.

Hanifin, who signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Hurricanes on July 11, collected five goals and 18 assists in 37 contests with Boston College last season.

Defenseman Tyler Ganly, who was a sixth-round selection in the 2013 draft, will replace the 18-year-old Hanifin and play in the rookie tournament in Traverse City, Mich.
