Red Wings' Richards revels in being paired with Datsyuk, Helm

Detroit Red Wings veteran forward Brad Richards knows where his bread is buttered.

Paired with superstar Pavel Datsyuk and fellow forward Darren Helm, Richards scored his second goal in five games in Monday's 2-1 setback to the Buffalo Sabres. The 35-year-old Prince Edward Island native has struggled to find the net this season, but was quick to credit his teammates as he notched just his seventh point of the campaign.

Richards has scored just two goals and set up five others this season for the Red Wings, who return to action Friday when they play the second contest of their four-game homestand versus the Vancouver Canucks.

A third-round pick of the 1998 draft, Richards has collected 290 goals and 621 assists in 1,076 career contests with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and Red Wings.

"Anytime you play with people that are creative and have great hockey sense like (Datsyuk) does, it can make the game. Helmer's been playing great, too. The amount of ice he opens up for us, the stuff he can do with his speed really helps."
