2024 NBA Finals MVP odds: Jayson Tatum favored; What's on the line for Luka Doncic?
The NBA Finals are set, meaning the battle for Finals MVP has arrived.
Boston's Jayson Tatum, not Luka Doncic, is the current betting favorite to be named Finals MVP.
Doncic, who was named Western Conference finals MVP, is the second betting favorite.
The Celtics are the current favorites to win the title, giving Tatum the slight edge on the board.
Tatum's teammate Jaylen Brown, who won the Eastern Conference finals MVP award, sits third on the betting board.
Here's a look at the latest odds for Finals MVP at FanDuel Sportsbook as of June 6.
NBA Finals MVP:
Jayson Tatum, Celtics: -115 (bet $10 to win $18.70 total)
Luka Doncic, Mavericks: +205 (bet $10 to win $20.50 total)
Jaylen Brown, Celtics: +650 (bet $10 to win $75 total)
Kyrie Irving, Mavericks: +2200 (bet $10 to win $230 total)
Despite Tatum being favored to win Finals MVP, there appears to be more on the line for Doncic in this series, at least according to FOX Sports' Chris Broussard, who said that if the Mavs win — and Doncic presumably wins Finals MVP — he would then be one of two players in the conversation for best player in the league.
"[Doncic] has to seal the deal with this championship," Broussard said on "First Things First" last week. "Obviously, I voted him my MVP, and I was only one of four. I thought he had the best season. … As far as the best player in the world, I honestly feel like it is in the eye of the beholder, but I only think it's two guys. I think [Nikola] Jokic and Luka are the two best players in the world."
