2024 World Series odds: Dodgers hold steady; Kansas City Royals surging

The MLB season is gaining momentum, and the Dodgers and Braves remain favorites to win the World Series.

Los Angeles had a busy offseason. In addition to signing reigning American league MVP Shohei Ohtani, L.A. traded for right-hander Tyler Glasnow and signed Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto. 

While the Dodgers have not disappointed so far, the Kansas City Royals' odds are moving up the board.

MLB Power Rankings: Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers battle for the No. 1 spot

Over the last week, Kansas City's World Series odds moved to +5000 from +6500. 

After slotting them 10th last week, FOX Sports MLB analyst Ben Verlander moved the Royals into the seventh spot in his weekly power rankings.

Wrote Verlander: "No team in the American League has as many home wins as the Royals (18), who added three more with a sweep of the A's. One of the primary reasons is Seth Lugo having the best season of his nine-year career. The 34-year-old struck out 22 batters and surrendered three earned runs and just one walk while winning two starts this past week. His AL-best ERA currently sits at 1.79."
