Friends and allies face off as Wes Lee defends the NXT North American Championship against Tyler Bate with Mustafa Ali as the special guest referee. Lee and Bate have aligned themselves for weeks with Bate even helping Lee meditate before matches. Their friendship soured when Bate wanted a title opportunity, but their shared loathing of The Schism bonded them enough for Lee to relent and give Bate the chance. Ali entered the fray just a couple of weeks ago and inserted himself into the match as the special guest referee with the intention of calling it right down the middle.
