One of the worst possible things that could happen to LSU this season is star running back Leonard Fournette suffering an injury.

The Tigers got a scare Tuesday when Fournette suffered an ankle injury in a scrimmage. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to be the worst possible outcome.

Fournette took a carry up the middle when a tackler fell on his leg, Miles said. Though Fournette is in a walking boot, the best news for LSU is that it wasn't a high ankle sprain, which typically involves a much longer recovering process.

LSU has already been crushed with injuries in preseason camp, with defensive linemen Christian LaCouture and Isaiah Washington being lost for the season and Corey Thompson, an expected starter in the secondary, out for a minimum of six weeks with a fracture leg.

Fournett is a huge reason why LSU is a preseason favorite to make the College Football Playoff, and he's expected to get to New York as a Heisman Finalist.
