Michigan fans lose their minds over school's new Nike gear

Published Nov. 15, 2016 3:49 p.m. ET

Sunday nights are supposed to be a quiet time; a moment at the end of the week to sit back, relax and look forward to the week ahead. To get into bed, Netflix with no chill, and maybe get caught up on some sleep after what was assuredly an adventurous weekend.

That’s what’s supposed to happen… only it was the exact opposite at the University of Michigan on Sunday night. That’s because while you slept, the entire Michigan campus went bonkers, when the school officially switched from Adidas, to Nike’s ‘Jordan Brand’ at midnight.

The Wolverines are now the only college in America whose athletic department is outfitted in Jordan Brand. And to mark the event it decided to celebrate in style: With a wild party.

The night started with (who else?) Jim Harbaugh leading the charge at a rally in the middle of the street, singing ‘Hail to the Victors’ as students surrounded him.

Then from there, fans went crazy purchasing and just in general talking about the new gear.

For starters, here is what some of the new gear looks like.

And here’s how Michigan fans reacted. Notice the strong use of emojis for several buyers.

As a matter of fact, the response was so overwhelming, that it actually led to Michigan’s school store website crashing in the middle of the night.

And people were NOT happy.

However, it was actually one item that wasn’t available which really caught everyone’s attention.

Overall, it's safe to say, the night was a success and Michigan fans were happy. Their rivals however? That's another story.
