New Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight is reminding coaches of Tim Tebow at Florida

Despite not making the Top 25 in the first AP Poll, one team that a lot of people think could be good really good this year is Texas A&M. The Aggies always have talent at the skill positions and should have an improved defense with stars Myles Garrett, Daeshon Hall and Armani Watts. Most important, they appear to finally have stability at quarterback.

After two years of bouncing from Kenny Hill to Kyle Allen to Kyler Murray, Trevor Knight is the established starter, no questions asked. For Knight, there will be no looking over his shoulder, no wondering when the next guy will come in. No five-star hot-shot recruiting bickering behind the scenes about snaps or how much he is playing.

Clearly Knight -- a graduate transfer from Oklahoma -- has taken to Texas A&M, and apparently the Texas A&M team has taken to him.

Bruce Feldman recently spent time in College Station and shared this story on The Audible about what the folks at Texas A&M think of their new QB.

While Feldman is right -- on the surface, the comment is certainly mockable -- the simple truth is that the more you read up on Knight, the more you realize that maybe he does have that Tebow-at-Florida quality to him.

Since the moment Knight arrived on campus, guys seem to have taken to him. Even when he won the starting quarterback job in the spring over the incumbent (and well-liked) Jake Hubenak, it didn’t seem to ruffle any feathers or bother anyone on the team. All reports out of College Station indicated the team was behind Kevin Sumlin’s decision to name Knight “his guy” and never look back.

Here is what Myles Garrett said about Knight at SEC Media Days back in July.

Feldman also mentioned Knight’s charitable work, something that's been noted since he got to College Station.

He was one of a handful of players (including Garrett) who elected to use his spring break to make a trip down to Haiti to help those less fortunate than he is. It was Knight’s fourth trip to the island nation (the previous three were at Oklahoma), and here’s how he described what to expect to the Houston Chronicle prior to the departure in May.

Clearly Knight has quickly impacted the culture at Texas A&M. We’ll see if he has an impact on the field when the Aggies face UCLA in Week 1.
