Source: LSU's Dave Aranda to be highest-paid coordinator in college football

Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda has agreed to terms on a contract extension with LSU that is believed to make him the highest paid coordinator in college football, a source told FOX Sports Tuesday afternoon.

Retaining Aranda was seen as a key piece for new Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron. This fall Aranda's D led the nation in lowest red zone TD percentage allowed by a wide margin, which is a critical stat in assessing a defense's worth.

Orgeron is expected to target his old friend Lane Kiffin to run the Tigers offense. Kiffin last year helped Alabama to the national title and has the Tide in prime position again to win another one.
