Report: Mets may promote Tim Tebow to higher level

The Mets have been discussing the possibility of promoting football player-turned-farmhand Tim Tebow, the New York Post’s Mike Puma reports.

If Tebow is promoted, it wouldn’t be until after the South Atlantic League All-Star Game in mid June, according to the report. The Columbia Fireflies, Tebow’s team, are hosting this year’s All-Star Game.

Tebow was assigned to Columbia after spring training and is by far the oldest player in the league at 29. He is batting .250 with two home runs and a .370 slugging percentage in 28 games.

Tebow recently signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with ESPN, though his television obligations will not get in the way of his baseball career.
