Nicky Hayden taken to hospital after hit by car while cycling

American motorcycle racer Nicky Hayden has been taken to hospital in serious condition after being hit by a car while training on his bicycle.
Hayden, 35, was training on his bicycle on the Rimini coast in Italy when he was hit by a Peugeot on Wednesday.
The 2006 MotoGP champion was then transported to a local hospital. Hayden is said to be in serious condition with severe chest and head trauma.
Hayden was in Italy having just competed in the World Superbike event at Imola. He is 13th in the Superbike standings.
