Mark Cuban reveals his NBA MVP candidates, says Russell Westbrook is not in the mix

Russell Westbrook is leading the NBA in scoring by averaging 31.7 points per game, and is averaging a triple-double on the season, which hasn't been done since 1962.

But none of that has him in the mix to win MVP, at least in Mark Cuban's eyes.

Earlier this season, the outspoken owner of the Mavericks had declared that Westbrook wasn't a superstar, because he failed to meet Cuban's arbitrary personal criteria. When naming his candidates for MVP on Sunday, Cuban went with James Harden and LeBron James -- before declaring that Westbrook wasn't even on his list.

It's not crazy to place both Harden and LeBron above Westbrook on an MVP ballot. Harden is the NBA's most efficient scorer and is leading the league in assists, and James has managed to keep the Cavaliers in first place in the East, despite losing two starters to injury for a substantial portion of the season.

The good news for Westbrook fans? It's possible that Cuban isn't being entirely serious.
