Michael Jordan praises Russell Westbrook for his 'loyalty' to Oklahoma City

Russell Westbrook solidified his place in Oklahoma City sports lore this summer when he opted to sign an extension with the Thunder instead of potentially bolting next summer in free agency, as Kevin Durant did four months ago.

The city honored Westbrook for his loyalty and spectacular play Thursday, when he was inducted into the Oklahoma City Hall of Fame. On hand for the ceremony was Michael Jordan, who introduced Westbrook, a member of Jordan Brand.

But like so many times during his illustrious career on the court, Jordan stole the show Thursday night, highlighting Westbrook’s “loyalty” often enough that it made you wonder if he was calling out Durant.

"Another thing you guys should be proud of is the sense of loyalty this kid has shown. He could have easily come to Charlotte," joked Jordan, owner of the Hornets.

“I'm not here to try and bash anybody that's not here," Jordan said. "Everybody has a choice ... but when I saw he chose to stay in Oklahoma I was so proud ... I texted him to show a sense of respect."
