NBA suspends Tim Hardaway 3 games for pleading guilty to DWI

Detroit Pistons assistant coach Tim Hardaway has been suspended three games for pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated with an excessive blood alcohol level, the NBA announced on Friday via official release.

Hardaway was sentenced to 18 months probation and 10 days of community service after pleading no contest to the charges, which stemmed from an April arrest.

"It's an unfortunate situation that Tim feels very badly about," Pistons president and head coach Stan Van Gundy said, via MLive.com. "But it's one time. As soon as it happened -- the initial thing, in April -- I talked to (Pistons owner Tom Gores) as I always do on things and we talked it through. We move on."

Hardaway, 50, was a five-time All-Star who played 13 NBA seasons for five different team. His son, Tim Hardaway Jr., is entering his fourth year in the league and plays for the Atlanta Hawks.
