Glazer: 49ers shopped LB Ahmad Brooks before trade deadline
The trade deadline has come and gone, but NFL on FOX insider Jay Glazer peeled back the curtain on two trades that almost got done last week.
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks was shopped around the league by his team and the Cleveland Browns were in talks, Glazer said. The deal fell apart when the 49ers bailed on it late.
Brooks, who made his first Pro Bowl appearance last season, is in the third year of his six-year deal which calls for the linebacker to earn $6.5 million in base salary a season.
Another notable name who was involved in trade talks was Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson. Glazer said the Philadelphia Eagles tried to trade for Jackson, but the Buccaneers refused. Jackson signed a five-year, $55 million deal in 2012 with the Buccaneers.
