Ravens' Urschel heading to MIT for his Ph.D. this offseason

John Urschel's Baltimore Ravens teammates may have to start calling him Dr. Urschel.

The team's resident math genius tweeted Tuesday that he will be begin his Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology this offseason.

Urschel may already the smartest player on the Ravens and now he's adding spectral graph theory to his resume, which is "the study of properties of a graph in relationship to the characteristic polynomial, eigenvalues, and eigenvectors of matrices associated to the graph, such as its adjacency matrix or Laplacian matrix," according to Wikipedia.

The offensive lineman started the final seven games at center last season in place of the injured Jeremy Zuttah. Perhaps when training camp begins next summer, he can explain to his fellow lineman what an eigenvector is. Studying at MIT will certainly prove to be a better use of his downtime than working on his dance moves.
