Week 1 of the 2016 season is now in the books for the Buffalo Bills — a regular season opener that could easily be forgotten. Let’s take a look at some highlights and reactions from the Buffalo Bills vs Ravens Week 1 matchup.
Yes, that’s correct, the Buffalo Bills fought a very tough game all the way to the end. However, they couldn’t find a way to take the lead late in the game and it ultimately led to a 13-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
To many fans’ surprise, the defense actually looked a lot better than the offense — which had a tough time getting anything going on Sunday. In a low scoring game, any bit of offense is helpful and the Bills couldn’t even get that.
It is just the first week, though. LeSean McCoy found the right words after the game, stating:
"It's game one. Goal wasn't to be undefeated. Goal was to win our division. We'll come out next week ready to roll." pic.twitter.com/dQcSGaLY5C

Rex Ryan was a little more blunt about things, stating:
"We knew it would be a hard fought game. They made more plays than we did. That's the bottom line." #BUFvsBAL pic.twitter.com/VMPQtVnpHY

Lastly, Tyrod Taylor — who had a very weak night manning the offense — had no excuses for the team’s play:
"We have to be better. We have a quick turnaround, and we'll be ready to perform next Thursday night." pic.twitter.com/e5u0XTX9MP

There’s no doubt that the Bills need to do a better job next game, which will take place on Thursday night against the New York Jets. It will be the Bills’ home opener, so they’ll be ready to give the fans a nice show.
All in all, turnovers weren’t a problem and the team did show clutch ability a few times. Their lone touchdown came on a 4th and Goal, while the team also went for it on another 4th and 1 — which resulted in a 6-yard rush by Tyrod Taylor. The team showed that they can work efficiently, now they just need to do that consistently.
So, who is interested in seeing some of the highlights from the game? The Bills had a few plays that showed what they are capable of. However, that’s what we saw last year and we all know how that went.

It was a rather boring game as far as offense goes, so there weren’t a lot of highlights. However, here are some to take away from the Bills vs. Ravens season opener.
In my search for highlights, I found that it was a little more difficult to gather a large selection.

Let’s get started with a play that I really liked, featuring Tyrod Taylor and Charles Clay. In the preseason, they connected on a 55+ yard catch and they will be looking to build their chemistry.
As the pocket collapsed in on Tyrod Taylor, he knew he had to find some room to get the ball out of his hands. He quickly juke-spun a couple of players to get enough space and saw Clay open up down the field. Once Clay got it, he had a few people to beat himself.
Ironically, he pulled the same exact move on them as Taylor did.

Ultimately, the play ended in a 33-yard catch by Clay that led to the 1-yard 4th-down touchdown by McCoy.

Next up, we have the only turnover of the game — which came off a miscommunication between the Ravens’ center and Joe Flacco. After fumbling the ball on the snap, Bills’ linebacker Preston Brown recovered it, bringing the Bills’ offense out on the field.
You can view Flacco’s fumble here.
The only huge stinger that the defense had given up was a deep pass from Joe Flacco to Mike Wallace, which he took 66 yards for a touchdown. Here’s that play:

Lastly, after missing his rookie season last year, Brashad Perriman seemed to be worth the wait on this long catch:

Now, let’s get to some of the important final stats to take away from the game.

The Bills’ stats on offense didn’t really feature a whole lot. However, it looks like our problem with sacking quarterbacks might be fixed.
The stats in this game were definitely one-sided. That will need to change next week vs. the New York Jets.
We will need a much bigger outing from McCoy, more deep throws from Tyrod Taylor and a more efficient secondary that doesn’t give up 66-yard touchdown throws off a deep pass. Most of that could simply be solved on its own, considering this was the first week.
Nonetheless, there’s no room for excuses and from now on, no room for error. Here are your top stats from your regular season opener vs. the Ravens.
