Bears' WR White has successful surgery on injured shin
Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Kevin White had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left shin over the weekend. The young pass-catcher had a rod inserted in his left tibia to aid the recovery, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
On Sunday, White announced on Twitter that the procedure was a success.
White's large frame (6-3, 217 lbs.) and ability to stretch the field enticed the Bears enough to select him with the seventh-overall pick in this year's draft. Since then, however, the high-profile West Virginia product has spent more time on the sidelines than on the practice field.
The team has not yet announced an official timetable for White's return, but the Tribune reports that he will "likely miss" the entire 2015 season.
