Chiefs LB Houston is much better than his 'NFL Top 100' ranking
Players just rated Justin Houston as the league's 27th-best player on NFL Network.
That seems a little off for an All-Pro player who was a sack away from becoming the NFL's single-season champion in 2014.
Houston was ranked ahead of Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Bills running back LeSean McCoy, and Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. But he fell behind the likes of Dolphins defensive tackle and Seattle Seahakws Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson.
That's great company for Houston to be in. But Houston was simply greater last season. No other pass rusher was as effective or as feared as No. 50.
Sacking quarterbacks is only a part of what Houston does. He also drops into coverage on tight ends and stifles an opponent's running game.
Suh is just as scary, but not as talented. Don't tell that to Chiefs general manager John Dorsey, though -- he'll have to navigate in the neighborhood of Suh's salary when dealing with Houston's long-term deal.
