C.J. Anderson still remembers that Dolphins head coach Adam Gase called him fat

The truth hurts, but money talks.

Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson may become the latest in an exodus of members of the Super Bowl 50 champs to sign a lucrative contract elsewhere.

On Thursday, Anderson, a restricted free agent, signed a $18 million, four-year offer sheet with the Miami Dolphins, who are now led by first-year head coach Adam Gase. Gase previously served as Denver's offensive coordinator (2013-2014).

Anderon's pending deal with Miami caused his Broncos teammate Chris Harris to recall a description Gase once offered of Anderson:

"In Denver -- C.J. would hate me for saying this -- but he got tired and was a little chubby sometimes," Gase told the Denver Post in May 2015. "I mean, he got worn down quick and then we had to rotate backs in last year."

Time, money, weight loss and thick skin can cure a lot of problems. Some combination of that must explain why Anderson, listed at 5-foot-8 and 224 pounds, would have no qualms reuniting with Gase, who questioned his endurance and waistline.

The 24-year-old rusher lost his starting gig in Denver early in 2015 when Denver moved to more of a committee with carries split between Anderson and Ronnie Hillman. But Anderson turned it on later in the season and rushed for 90 yards on 23 carries in the Super Bowl against a tough Carolina front seven.
