Report: If Browns look to deal Manziel, count out the Cowboys
Rumors circulating the Cleveland Browns and their quarterback situation have been warped into overdrive in recent days.
Numerous reports have them trading up for Marcus Mariota or trading one of their first-round selections for Eagles QB Sam Bradford. In the event that the Browns do pull off a trade for one of these two quarterbacks, Johnny Manziel's future with the Browns could become his past.
If Manziel goes on the block following a trade for another quarterback, just don't expect the Cowboys to be the team he gets traded to. Although owner Jerry Jones had to be held back from drafting Manziel during the 2014 NFL Draft, apparently he has changed his mind since.
ESPN's Ed Werder is locked in to all things Cowboys-related, and he reports that the Cowboys are not inclined to deal for Manziel if he becomes available.
One has to wonder if the Cowboys are not just purposely leaking this information to drive Manziel's price tag down. After all, the Cowboys have been openly seeking a backup quarterback that they can groom to eventually take over for Tony Romo. They have held private workouts with Bryce Petty and several other quarterback draft prospects. Current backup QB Brandon Weeden, another former Browns first-round pick, has just one year left on his contract in Dallas.
I wouldn't completely rule out a Manziel to the Cowboys trade just yet.
