Dolphins' DeVante Parker, not Branden Albert, could start camp on PUP list

The Miami Dolphins are just one day away from their first practice, as training camp opens on Thursday. Prior to opening camp, however, the Dolphins have to sort out which players will be placed on injury lists -- particularly the physically unable to perform list.

According to the Sun Sentinel, DeVante Parker could be a candidate to start training camp on the PUP list, while offensive tackle Branden Albert will avoid being placed on the list. The PUP list isn't nearly as severe or serious as it sounds. Players on the list can be activated at any time following clearance from the training staff. The benefit is that it clears a roster spot for the Dolphins to bring in another player to camp.

Parker is said to be weeks away from being a full participant and could miss all of training camp and the preseason after having surgery on his right foot in June. On the other hand, it's a good sign that Albert will be able to avoid the PUP list just 10 months after tearing his ACL and MCL. Although he may not be a full participant early on, he can still work through walkthroughs and conditioning.
