Ex-Falcon Mike Johnson calls it a career after five seasons

Mike Johnson is a former o-line prospect of the Atlanta Falcons, but he's seen his career hit a bit of a spiral downwards over recent seasons. Johnson has been in the NFL for five seasons, but has suffered three brutal injuries over that span, which in turn, has led to him choosing to retire according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of AJC.com.

"He has notified his family and will worry about filing his retirement papers with the league office once things are sorted out with his worker’s compensation situation." Ledbetter explained.

He continues by pointing out that Johnson was actually expected to take over at right tackle in 2013 when the Falcons parted ways with Tyson Clabo. Unfortunately, then came the injury wave.

To run through his injuries, it started in his second season when he had a Lisfranc injury to his left foot. After that came a broken ankle and dislocated foot, followed up by another Lisfranc injury, this time to his right foot.

Ledbetter explains that Johnson tried out for the Miami Dolphins last season, but simply has chosen to call it quits.

Best of luck to Johnson moving forward in his life. It's tough to imagine those types of injuries at all, yet alone over such a short span.
