Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was involved in a car accident Sunday, forcing him to miss the first two days of the team’s voluntary offseason program, the Cowboys said Wednesday.

Elliott was a passenger during the accident but did not suffer any significant injuries, other than bumping his head. Still, the Cowboys are not taking any chances with the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Elliott ran for an NFL-best 1,631 yards last season, falling just short of the rookie single-season mark. But he’s had a number of incidents off the field that have raised some eyebrows.

The NFL is still reviewing the allegations his former girlfriend made against him last July, when she accused Elliott of forcibly pulling her out of a car. Columbus, Ohio, police questioned him about the incident, and the district attorney chose not to pursue charges because of the conflicting stories.

A few days before the Cowboys' January playoff loss to the Packers, Elliott was involved in what police called a "minor vehicle accident." In March, Elliott was seen on camera pulling down a woman’s top, exposing her breast during a St. Patrick’s Day party in Dallas. One of Elliott’s representatives told TMZ that the “woman wasn’t upset” and that the incident was “all in good fun.”
