Jets activate Giacomini from PUP, waive Butler

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:00 p.m. ET

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The New York Jets have activated right tackle Breno Giacomini from the reserve/physically unable to perform list, making him eligible to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

To make room on the roster Saturday, the Jets waived wide receiver Jeremy Butler.

Giacomini started every game at right tackle the last two seasons, but missed all of training camp and the first seven games this year with a back injury. Ben Ijalana and Brent Qvale rotated snaps in Giacomini's place.

Coach Todd Bowles said Friday that the Jets would consider activating Giacomini because of uncertainty on the offensive line. Left tackle Ryan Clady is questionable because of an ailing shoulder, and could be replaced by Ijalana. Qvale is also doubtful with a neck injury.

Butler, claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on Oct. 11, was inactive the last two games.
