Here's why disgruntled Joey Bosa will play for Chargers or no one else in 2016

The San Diego Chargers now have one less option at their disposal in an ongoing contract dispute with No. 3 overall pick Joey Bosa. San Diego's window for trading Bosa in 2016 passed Tuesday, which means the former Ohio State defensive end will play for the Chargers or no one this year.

The saga hasn't been without drama. Bosa's mom reportedly left a comment on Facebook that turned some heads earlier this week.

The two sides reportedly haven't talked contract terms since July 28, with Bosa's camp rejecting the Chargers' latest offer.

The sticking point centers on offset language and the timing of Bosa's signing bonus. The Chargers want to keep the offset language, which would take the Chargers off the hook for Bosa's guaranteed contract if he's cut during the next four years and he signs with another team. San Diego also wants to defer a large chunk of Bosa's signing bonus to 2017.

Bosa would concede on either aspect while the Chargers won't give in on either. San Diego has until the Tuesday after Week 10 to resolve the dispute if it wants Bosa to play this year. If the two sides miss this deadline, the Chargers would own his rights until the start of the 2017 draft.
