Raiders refuse to blame Bill Musgrave for stale late-season offense
Jack Del Rio admitted his Oakland Raiders offense "got off the rails" in Week 17.
But he isn't looking to point the finger at the man who coordinates it. In fact, despite lackluster results to end the season, Del Rio sounds comfortable will Bill Musgrave in charge.
Del Rio, via CSN Bay Area: "I’m not going to go singularly after anybody. We’ve got a good group of guys here. We’re working hard together and we’ve got a bright future."
It's easy to single out Musgrave for Oakland's across-all-lines dip. The unit averaged 19 points over its final three outings -- over three points less than its end-of-season average.
Del Rio favors continuity. With a second season in Musgrave's playbook, he expects a higher scoring output, too.
Said Del Rio: “I think you have an opportunity when you’re in your second year to grow and to go to an advanced level of an understanding of exactly what we’re trying to get done. I think that goes with coach to player. I think that goes from coach to coach. I think within our staff, we’ll be stronger as a staff and understanding how we do things and how the flow of communication occurs and just the different things that we have to be really good at.”
