Chip Kelly: Fletcher Cox is a disruptive force for us

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Fletcher Cox took over in the team's Week 5 39-17 win over the New Orleans Saints. Cox racked up three sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in a game where no Saints offensive lineman could contain him.

"When people talk about getting ready to go play us," head coach Chip Kelly said Monday to reporters, per Eliot Shorr-Parks of True Jersey, "they talk about Fletcher."

Cox's three sacks in one game were a career best for the interior lineman.

"I really think for us, it's what Fletch has done since he's been here," Kelly said. "He's been a very disruptive force on the defensive line since we came here. He is just starting to get noticed, when he should have been before."

In the Eagles' Week 5 win, Cox made arguably the biggest play of the game with the Eagles leading by just one score midway through the third quarter.

"To make a play like that, not only does he force the play, get the sack and cause the fumble, but recover it...it was a really big play for us, especially at that time of the game," Kelly said. "But that's just the kind of player he is. We keep seeing him get a little bit better every week."

Cox finished as Pro Football Focus' 46th-best player overall in their top 101 of 2014 list. He has continued to be a constant disruption in the passing game in 2015.
