Rams to give players social media training

Published Jun. 15, 2015 7:18 p.m. ET

Social media has gotten a lot of players in trouble the last few years. It used to be something teams never had to worry about, but times have changed and the St. Louis Rams want their players to think before they tweet.

The Rams will be working with the newly-launched Social Media Sports Management (SM2) company. The concept of the company is very simple. They want to educate the players to think before they post something that could have a negative impact on themselves or the team.

"With the evolution of social media, it is important for our players, coaches, and staff to understand the consequences of using social media irresponsibly," coach Jeff Fisher said, via St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Rams are the first team in the NFL to use the company, but look for other teams to follow suit if the success is proven.
