Updated Mar. 4, 2020 3:28 p.m. ET

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) Washington Redskins running back Silas Redd has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's policy for substances of abuse.

The punishment was announced Tuesday.

Redd was suspended for four games in November while on injured reserve for a violation of the same policy.

He missed his entire second season in the league after injuring right knee ligaments in Washington's exhibition opener in August.
