Bailey filling in for Chancellor, making imprint at training camp

There is still no sign of Kam Chancellor.

But for the Seattle Seahawks, it's a case of next man up.

DeShawn Shead and Steven Terrell have been getting most of the work in place of Chancellor and Earl Thomas.

But Dion Bailey, who went undrafted in 2014, is another player to watch as training camp progresses.

Bailey spent the 2014 season on the Seahawks practice squad, but is getting an extended look at strong safety. Head coach Pete Carroll only had high praise for his former player.

"He's always been a playmaker," Carroll said. "We watched him in high school – a million years ago, it seems – but he was always a terrific playmaker and he just always did stuff. He just continues to show that. He's got great instincts."

Bailey started out playing linebacker at USC during his freshman and sophomore seasons, winning the Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. He made the move back to safety during his junior season.

In his three-year career as a Trojan, Bailey registered 222 tackles, 11 interceptions and 3.5 sacks.
