The NFL's ongoing legal issues have dominated the news cycle for the last few weeks.
Saturday night, they became fodder for "Saturday Night Live."
The show's cold open featured Kenan Thompson as former Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and Jay Pharoah as former tight end Shannon Sharpe discussing the recent controversies surrounding running backs Ray Rice (domestic violence) and Adrian Peterson (child abuse).
Neither "player" does anything to further the discussion, and it's questionable whether there's truly anything funny to find in the subject matter, but after the deluge of bad news, maybe a break for laughs was called for.
