Steve Smith Sr. blows up at Ravens practice after multiple Joe Flacco miscues

Steve Smith Sr. wasn’t in the mood for mistakes during the Baltimore Ravens' practice Thursday, even by his Pro Bowl quarterback.

Smith tossed his helmet and kicked a football after Flacco overthrew him on back-to-back deep passes along the sideline. After the outburst, Smith walked off the field as Flacco and the rest of the offense continued the passing drills.

"The reason I did it is because I wanted to," Smith told ESPN.

Smith didn’t elaborate on the incident when approached by reporters at his locker.

"According to you guys, you already know," Smith said as he looked at reports about his outburst on his phone. "Why am I going to comment if you already know? ... I don't have to explain anything to you. I can choose to do what I want to."

Could Smith’s eruption be a carryover from Baltimore’s 30-23 loss to the Patriots, a setback that dropped the Ravens one game behind the Steelers for the AFC North lead and out of a current playoff spot?

"You have to understand, we're all a little messed up," linebacker Terrell Suggs said. "We're all a little itchy. It was an emotional loss [at New England]. We really wanted that one. We're just a little edgy. But I think it's good to be a little edgy in December."
