Report: Rookie Kwon Alexander promoted to starting MLB

The positional battles are picking up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the Bucs brought in middle linebacker Bruce Carter this offseason in free agency, it seems as though his job is in danger, thanks to rookie Kwon Alexander.

As Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports, Alexander has actually already been promoted to the starting middle linebacker.

Definitely surprising to see, but it just means that Alexander must be making a major impact to this point. As Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reported, head coach Lovie Smith had some great things to say about the rookie linebacker after the preseason opener.

"He was outstanding," Smith told Auman of Alexander, who had four tackles in 32 snaps, all during the second quarter. "Made a couple of rookie mistakes, but beyond that, a good start for him."

Well, congrats to Alexander, and it's going to make the remaining preseason games even more interesting for the two main middle linebackers.
