Texans head coach Bill O'Brien impressed with Jameis Winston
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 19-9 in Week 3 to the Houston Texans, there were still some positives to take away from this game. One of the most obvious talking points is rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, who will be under the spotlight throughout all of 2015, and probably beyond that.
While Winston had a mediocre day from a statistical standpoint, completing 17 of 36 passes for 261 yards, one touchdown and one interception, the team could muster enough offense to get the victory. There were both positives and negatives from Winston's Week 3 performance, but one man came away impressed apparently.
According to Mark Cook of Pewter Report, Houston's head coach Bill O'Brien was impressed with the rookie quarterback.
“I think he’s, like I said before, I think he’s a very talented guy,” O’Brien told Pewter Report following the game. “I think he’s got a great future in this league. I’m glad he’s not in our division. He’s a hell of a player. He made some big time throws today.”
“He’s a competitor. I think he was yelling at me when I threw the challenge flag there late. He’s a competitor, you know, he’s a competitor. You’ve got to respect guys like that. He’s got a real good future in the league.”
Obviously, O'Brien is probably a happy camper that his team got the win, but it's still great seeing the high praise sent in Winston's direction. We've seen the potential from him, but other coaches and players seem to be seeing the same things.
