Buccaneers make a few changes after loss, mainly on practice squad
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers definitely got their 2015 season off on the wrong foot, it was safe to assume that changes would be coming. One of the biggest moves made was the addition of former Atlanta Falcons center Joe Hawley. It's unknown what role Hawley will play just yet, but apparently the Buccaneers weren't done there.
As for the other early-season moves made by Tampa? Well, they weren't exactly ones that jump off the page. As Roy Cummings of The Tampa Tribune reports, the team released four players on Tuesday, but three of them were practice squad players.
The lone player released from the 53-man roster was linebacker James-Michael Johnson, who was waived (injured), according to Cummings, just nine days after being claimed from the Chiefs.
As for the practice squad moves, it included releasing tight end Cameron Brate, guard Martin Wallace and the biggest surprise, wide receiver Kaelin Clay.
Many fans actually believed Clay could push to be a return specialist as a rookie, but the sixth-round pick just didn't do enough to stick it seems.
