Logan Mankins compares Jameis Winston to Tom Brady in one key way

While Jameis Winston has had a strong rookie season to this point, it's probably not quite fair to compare him to Tom Brady, not at this point anyways.

That obviously wasn't the intention of Logan Mankins, but the veteran guard, who has played with both Brady and Winston, still had a rave review of his current quarterback. According to Mark Cook of Pewter Report, Mankins threw out some similarities between the two players.

“Definitely. That is all that matters to Tom (Brady) and that is winning,” Mankins told Pewter Report following Tampa Bay’s 23-19 win over the Falcons on Sunday. “That is what we get from Jameis. He just wants to win whether that’s handing off, scrambling, or him throwing a touchdown pass to win. Whatever it takes to win, he will do it.”

He continued on about Winston, specifically mentioning his incredible 20-yard run on third-and-19 in Week 13.

“If you look at some of the drives, even the first touchdown today, we had two penalties we had to overcome,” Mankins said. “Those are tough, but we always seem to find a way when we need to get it done. And to see that run tonight (20-yard scramble on third-and-19 by Winston), most quarterbacks would have tripped on themselves and fell down. And he’s out there bouncing off defensive linemen, linebackers breaking tackles just to get a first down and give us a chance. It’s pretty special.”

There's obviously still some growing to do for Winston, but he also has that winning mentality that you just can't teach. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers found themselves a true winner with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft.
