Jaromir Jagr on Hurricane Matthew: 'I want to see how strong I am'

At 44 years old, Jaromir Jagr is the elder statesman of the NHL. He's seen some stuff. And while he's never been in the path of a hurricane before, he's not scared of Hurricane Matthew.

The Florida Panthers forward was asked about his plans and preparations for the incoming hurricane this week, and his response was perfectly Jagr.

"I'm okay. People have to survive two weeks without water, (so) I can try for two days," he told the Miami Herald on Thursday. "I have to test my body. I want to see how strong I am."

With Florida in a state of emergency, the state's governor has ordered millions of evacuations, while those who are sticking have been stocking up on food and water as they prepare to hunker down when the storm rolls in.

Jags even has a conspiracy theory regarding the storm.

"Everything's sold out. It's a great business for the U.S.," Jagr joked. "Maybe they're just saying that (there's a storm because) they just want to sell everything in the shopping."

Never change, Jagr.
