Wolves sign forward Anthony Brown to 2-way contract
The Minnesota Timberwolves signed their first player to the new NBA two-way contract Tuesday, inking forward Anthony Brown.
Players signed to a two-way contact can accrue no more than 45 days of service with their respective NBA club during the regular season and will spend the remainder of their time with the team’s NBA G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves. Teams can sign just two players to two-way contracts.
Brown was a second-round pick out of Stanford in 2015 by the Lakers. He played 29 games for Los Angeles in 2015-16, averaging 4.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in 20.6 minutes. He spent last year mainly with Erie of the D League (now called the G League), averaging 20.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 24 games. He also appeared in nine games for New Orleans and two for Orlando last season.
The 6-foot-7 Brown played for the Clippers summer-league team his offseason, but averaged just 9.5 minutes per game.
As a senior at Stanford in 2014-15, Brown averaged 14.8 points and 6.9 rebounds and made 44.1 percent of his 3-point attempts.
