Santiago, Twins have (recent) history of dominance vs. White Sox

A date with the Chicago White Sox has been the cure for whatever ails the Minnesota Twins in recent years.

After surrendering a combined 28 runs in back-to-back losses over the weekend, the Twins could use a game against the South Siders.

Fortunately, they've got just the man for the job.

Starting pitcher Hector Santiago has owned the White Sox over the last year, and is 4-0 in five starts against Chicago with a 0.81 ERA and a .168 opponent batting average.

Santiago has shut out the White Sox four times over that span, while his 1.40 career ERA when facing Chicago is the second lowest by anypitcher since 1920, the beginning of the live-ball era.

The kicker? He was drafted by the White Sox in 2006.

Fortunately for Santiago, he should get plenty of run support Tuesday.

The Twins have at least one home run in 10 straight games, and have averaged 1.80 home runs per game over the last two weeks, good enough for third in the majors.

Third baseman Miguel Sano has been the primary reason for that success, and ranks fifth in the majors with a 1.173 OPS over that span.

Player Team OPS
Aaron Judge Yankees 1.391
Jose Abreu White Sox 1.264
Mike Trout Angels 1.215
Nelson Cruz Mariners 1.206
Miguel Sano Twins 1.173

Second baseman Brian Dozier has been the league's top slugger when facing the White Sox, and has 14 home runs against them since 2015.

Only Mike Trout has victimized a single team more over that span.

Player Opponent Home Runs
Mike Trout Mariners 15
Brian Dozier White Sox 14
Nelson Cruz Angels 13
Chris Davis Blue Jays 13
