Claudio Ranieri's goodbye letter to Leicester is so heartwarming
Claudio Ranieri's departure from Leicester City was sad. The man led the Foxes to their improbable Premier League title just nine months ago, but with the team struggling and facing relegation, the club had to put aside their love for the man and make a change.
After all the great work Ranieri did last season, and the way he endeared himself to the club and every observer, it was hard to see the Italian go. But as emotional as it may have been, he pulled at the heartstrings even more when he wrote the club and its fans a goodbye letter.
After the euphoria of last season and being crowned champions, all I dreamt of was staying with Leicester. Sadly this was not to be.
The adventure was amazing and will live with me forever. My heartfelt thanks to everybody at the club, everybody who was part of what we achieved, but mostly to the supporters.
You took me into your hearts from day one and loved me. I love you too.
No one can ever take away what we achieved together and I hope you think about it and smile every day the way I always will.
It was a time of wonderfulness and happiness that I will never forget. It's been a pleasure and an honor to be a champion with all of you.
That is just too much.
Ranieri is right -- no one can ever take away that title and everyone who follows the sport will forever remember it. That means remembering Ranieri as the brilliant, smiling, sweet and funny man who led the Foxes to heights no one ever dreamed. It was a fairytale and Ranieri played as big of a role as anyone. It's only right that even he goes out, he does so as wonderfully as this. It's what made us all love him on the whole ride too.
