Yale runs away in second half, beats Vermont 72-54

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Justin Sears had 17 points and Makai Mason 16 and both had 10 rebounds to lead Yale to a 72-54 win over Vermont on Saturday.

Jack Montague also had 17 points for the Bulldogs (5-3), who dominated the second half, outscoring the Catamounts (4-5) 38-23.

Cam Ward had 16 of his career-high 20 points in the first half when Vermont trailed 34-23. However the Catamounts shot just 21 percent (6 of 29) and were outrebounded 27-11.

Yale, which shot 54 percent, started the second half with a 16-3 run with Montague scoring 10, including back-to-back 3-pointers. Sears scored the last six points in a 12-5 run that pushed the lead to 20 with four minutes left.

The only downside for Yale was 20 turnovers and shooting 12 of 22 from the foul line.
