Maryland poses stiff test for West Virginia's young WRs

Published Sep. 24, 2015 8:30 p.m. ET

It's been widely publicized that West Virginia seems to produce quality receivers every year. But guys like Shelton Gibson and Jovon Durante have yet to be tested against a quality opponent.

Though Maryland has struggled early on, they'll still present the toughest test the Mountaineer wide outs have seen to date.

Sean Davis and William Likely are two very good corners that start for the Terps.

“They offer the two best corners that we have seen to date,” WVU coach Dana Holgorsen said. “They have veteran guys that have played a lot. I'm sure they are going to get in our younger guys' faces and challenge them. I'm pretty fired up to see how our young guys respond to that because I expect them to play against anybody.”

Skyler Howard agreed with his coach's assessment.

“They're making plays,” Howard said. “They're looking good and looking sharp. The communication is going really well.”

It will be up to Howard to steer his receivers clear of the two cover savants.
