Preseason magazines have as many as 10 SEC teams ranked

How deep is the SEC this year? Pretty freakin' deep, at least based on preseason expectations.

With the summer season-preview magazines having come out recently, SEC fan site Saturday Down South took inventory of the SEC teams' various rankings and noticed something rather impressive: Across five different prominent publications, a total of 10 SEC teams are ranked in at least one "poll." In fact, all 10 of those teams are ranked in at least two polls, so this remarkable stat can't be chalked up to one bizarre outlier. On top of that, five of the 10 selections -- Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee (somewhat surprisingly) -- were unanimous, with Alabama and Auburn ahead of the rest of the pack and essentially alternating picks as to which is the best team in the SEC.

The entire seven-member SEC West is included, with Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Mississippi State (in that order) not being unanimous selections but having rankings ranging from 11 to 25. Meanwhile, the conference's only teams not getting any preseason love from the magazines are Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
