The 'Other Klein' keen on making a name for himself at K-State

Published Apr. 24, 2015 5:25 a.m. ET

If you scanned K-State's roster, you might stop at a familiar surname and wonder if there were a relation between the Heisman-candidate quarterback and the wide receiver with a first name that alliterates with his own.

Wide receiver Kyle Klein is on a mission to ensure that the answer to that question isn't the only thing you know about him.

“A large portion of my life, I’ve been referred to as the ‘Other Klein,’” Kyle told ESPN. “But I’m OK with that. Collin has been an unbelievable role model. I can’t complain because I’m proud to associate with him.”

With the departures of prolific receivers Tyler Lockett and Curry Sexton, Klein is presented with an opportunity to step out of his brother's shadow and make a name for himself at K-State.

“There’s nothing I can do about it," Kyle said about living up the legacy his brother left at KSU. "I just have to be the best player I can be. If I live up to the name, great. If I don’t, I can rest easy knowing I did the best I could. I can live with that.

“I’ve put in a lot of hard work to get where I am. I feel like it’s time to reap some of what I’ve sown. Hopefully that’s good stuff.”
