Trump's golf course reportedly won't host future British Opens

Published Dec. 13, 2015 4:10 p.m. ET

Donald Trump's remarks have reportedly cost his golf course a chance at hosting future British Opens.

Trump Turnberry's Ailsa course in Scotland will not be selected to host future British Opens, The Independent reported Sunday. The decision reportedly was made due to the Republican presidential candidate's remarks regarding Muslim immigration and his previous comments about Mexican immigrants.

Trump purchased Turnberry in 2014. The course has hosted four British Opens, the last of which was in 2009.  Turnberry is currently undergoing a redesign with the hopes of hosting the Open. One source told The Independent that "2020 will not happen here. Turnberry will be back. But perhaps not Trump Turnberry."

Trump has called for a "total and complete shutdown" to Muslim immigration as a response to recent terrorist attacks in France and the US.
