Could Kyle Busch follow in brother Kurt's Indy 500 footsteps?

Two years ago, Kurt Busch stunned the racing world with his performance in the Indianapolis 500. Now, it seems like Busch's younger brother, Kyle, would like to give it a try, too.

In 2014, Kurt finished sixth and won Rookie of the Year honors in the Indy 500, which was his first, and so far only, open-wheel race. It was a remarkable performance given Kurt's lack of IndyCar experience.

Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle talked about following in his brother's footsteps at the Brickyard.

Busch was asked who would be tougher to convince about racing in the 500, his team owner Joe Gibbs or his wife, Samantha?

"Joe's going to be the hardest one for sure," said Busch. "Samantha is not necessarily a fan of it and I've talked to her about it a little bit and she's just like, 'I'll be there when the time comes, but don't tell me.' "

Busch followed that up with some intriguing tidbits.

"Then the sponsor aspect, they've actually shown some interest in it and that was kind of fun for me to hear that there might actually be an opportunity there if I continue my relationship with them from the Cup side to the IndyCar side," said Busch.

Busch did not name the sponsor, but certainly seemed interested in doing the Indy-Charlotte double.

"We have to work out all those details and it's certainly not going to happen for this year, but maybe in some future years we'll see what we can put together," Busch said.
