The Philadelphia Flyers' home preseason game against the New York Islanders on Sept. 25 will go on as scheduled despite the planned visit of Pope Francis the following day, a team spokesman confirmed to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Puck drop for the Metropolitan Division rivals is slated for 7 p.m. and the roads could become parking lots regardless if the exhibition contest extends into overtime or a shootout.

In preparation for the Pope's visit, Pennsylvania Transportation Secretary Leslie S. Richards detailed to the Philadelphia Daily News that all of the Vine Street Expressway and parts of Interstate-76 and Route 1 will be closed at 10 p.m. In addition, the Benjamin Franklin Bridge will also be shut down to vehicular traffic at the same time.

Interstate-95, which is located next to the Wells Fargo Center, is expected to remain open.
