The Vancouver Canucks have announced their roster for the annual Young Stars Classic in Penticton.

For the Vancouver Canucks, the annual Young Stars Classic is usually the official start into the new season. This year, all eyes are on the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, but that doesn’t make Vancouver’s prospect tournament any less interesting.

Today the club announced their roster for the five-day training camp and tournament.

The Young Stars Classic gives fans a first glimpse at the newest draft class, as well as summer free-agent acquisitions and camp invites. In addition, there are some returning players who spent last season playing professionally in the minor leagues, like Utica Comets defenceman Jordan Subban and forward Cole Cassels.

For the players, the tournament is a first chance to prove that drafting and/or signing them was the right decision, and they can show Canucks coaches and management that they deserve to be a part of the club.

Along with the Canucks, the tournament features three more Canadian teams: the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets.
