Aggies close regular season with blowout of Rio Grande Valley

EDINBURG, Texas -- Pascal Siakam scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as New Mexico State routed Texas Rio Grande Valley 83-44 on Saturday night.

The Western Athletic Conference regular-season champion Aggies (22-9, 13-1) will play in a conference tournament semifinal on Friday. Texas Rio Grande Valley (8-21, 4-10) plays in Thursday's quarterfinals.

Siakam was 10 of 17 from the floor. Ian Baker added 11 points and six assists for New Mexico State, which has won 14 of its last 15 games.

Shaquille Hines had 12 points and Dan Kimasa chipped in 10 for the Vaqueros, who shot just 28 percent on 15-of-54 shooting and scored a season low.

The Aggies had a double-digit lead midway through the first half, closed on 20-7 run for a 40-17 halftime lead and cruised from there.

New Mexico outrebounded the Vaqueros 54-27, had 19 assists and forced 15 turnovers.
